The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can vacuum and mop your floors with no effort. cheap robot vacuum leaves them spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
